Beware of pension scams - approach your transfer with caution...
STOP. LOOK. LISTEN.

Let's stop pension scams! Over £30m has been lost to pension scammers since 2017! Scammers use attractive offers to convince you into transferring your pension. Transferring your pension should be safe - as long as you know the dangers to look for:

STOP

BEFORE YOU AGREE TO TRANSFER

Firstly, stop any unwanted or uninvited contact about your pension.

Secondly, stop thinking about getting your hands on your pension early or the promise of far better returns. If it sounds too good to be true – it probably is.

Finally, do the look and listen steps before agreeing to anything. Take your time – don’t rush.

LOOK

INTO THE OFFER & THE COMPANY

Check out who it is you’re dealing with. Make sure they’re on the Financial Services Register. Also, be sure to look out for those companies that pretend to be a company that they’re not. If you need help checking, you can contact the Financial Conduct Authority helpline: 0800 111 6768.

It’s important to know who you’re dealing with. If you transfer to an unauthorised firm – you’ll lose the protection of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.
